Plans and billing
Your first store is free, each connected store needs its own plan based on its matched SKUs, and nothing stops quietly when you go over the limit.
How the plans differ
Every feature is included in every plan, including the free one: variant matching by SKU, real-time sync, multiple locations per store, manual and scheduled syncs, and the activity log. Plans differ in how many variants are synced. Every plan has a limit, including Pro. Pro also includes priority support: a reply on the same business day, instead of within one business day.
There is no fixed plan for more variants than Pro includes. Below the plans, there's a line for that: "More than … variants? Contact us." The link takes you to the contact page.
On the Overview page, "Features" shows what your plan includes. Anything that comes with a higher plan stays visible there and is labeled as such.
What counts: matched SKUs per store
The app counts per store. A store's matched SKUs are the SKUs it shares with at least one other store in your group.
- A T-shirt in size M with the same SKU in two stores is one matched SKU for each of the two stores.
- Variants that aren't matched don't count.
- Matching is what counts, even while real-time sync is off.
- The current number is shown on the Overview page under "Status" next to the limit, in the form "… of … matched SKUs". It applies to the store where you have the app open.
Your first store is free
Your first store doesn't need a plan, no matter how many SKUs are matched. Your first store is the one that has been in the group the longest: the store where you created the code to connect. The "Stores" page labels it "First store", and it tells you before you connect which store stays free.
Each store you connect to it needs its own plan, based on its matched SKUs. Up to the Free limit, that's the free plan. A subscription only applies to the store that holds it. It doesn't change another store's limit.
The "Plan" page tells you in every store which role that store has:
- In your first store, it says "This store is your first store. It doesn't need a plan." Below that, "Your connected stores" shows where each connected store stands: its plan, its matched SKUs, its limit and the plan that fits. The plans are listed for information, without a button to choose one. You choose a connected store's plan in the app in that store.
- In a connected store, you see its matched SKUs, its limit, its plan and the plan that fits.
- As long as no second store is connected, the store doesn't need a plan. The page tells you which store will need one later.
You can't set which store is the first one. The direction of real-time sync and the sync rule have nothing to do with it.
The Overview page shows it too: in your first store, "Status" says that it doesn't need a plan, followed by where each connected store stands.
If a subscription is running in a store that doesn't need a plan, the "Plan" page and the Overview page of that store say so. You can end it there with "End this store's subscription". The app never ends a subscription by itself.
Choose or change a plan
You choose a plan in a connected store. In your first store, and as long as no second store is connected, there's nothing to choose. There, the button at the top of the Overview page reads "View plans".
- Open "Plan", or click "Choose a plan" or "Change plan" at the top of the Overview page.
- At the top you see how many matched SKUs this store has and which plan fits. The smallest plan that covers them is marked "Fits this store". Plans that are too small say "Not enough for … variants." If no plan covers them, none is marked "Fits this store". In that case, use the line below the plans: "Contact us."
- Click "Choose …" on the plan you want.
- Shopify shows you the confirmation page for the subscription. After you confirm, you're back in the app and the plan is marked "Active".
If you don't confirm on Shopify's page, your plan stays as it was. If you decline there, Shopify takes you back to the admin and tells you that you declined. The app shows no message about it. The "Plan" page still shows your previous plan, and you can choose again at any time.
If Shopify doesn't accept the request for the subscription, you never get to the confirmation page. You're back on the "Plan" page instead, and above the plans it says "The switch to … didn't go through", with the reason, the next step and the technical message from Shopify. Your plan is unchanged, and nothing is charged. If a second attempt ends the same way, send the technical message to support.
The free plan needs no subscription. It applies to a connected store as long as that store has no paid subscription of its own.
Switch back to Free
To go from a paid plan back to Free, you end the subscription. You do that in the store that holds it.
- Open "Plan" and click "Choose Free" on the Free plan.
- The page shows what applies afterwards. Nothing has been ended at this point.
- Click "End subscription and switch to Free". "Stay on …" leaves everything as it is.
Shopify ends the subscription right away. If you've already paid for the current billing period, Shopify credits you for the unused part. After that, Free applies to this store. You can choose a paid plan again on the Plan page at any time.
If the store has more matched SKUs than Free includes, the page says so as a warning before you end the subscription, with its number and the plan that fits. Nothing stops quietly in that case either. What applies over the limit is described below under "Early warning and the limit".
If a subscription is running in a store that doesn't need a plan, the top of the page shows "End this store's subscription". That doesn't change the other stores' plans.
Free trial and billing
Paid plans start with a free trial. Billing runs through Shopify, every 30 days. The app itself never sees payment details.
Early warning and the limit
- From 80% of its limit, the Overview page of the affected store shows "You're close to your plan's limit". You can dismiss it. It comes back when the limit changes, for example after you switch plans.
- If a connected store is over its limit, the Overview page shows "More variants than your plan includes" in every store of the group. The notice names the store and the plan that fits.
- If a store has more matched SKUs than the highest plan includes, the Overview page doesn't name a plan. Instead it says how many SKUs the highest plan includes, followed by "For more, contact us." with a link to the contact page.
- Nothing stops quietly over the limit. Real-time sync that is already on keeps running, and so do matching and syncs. You just can't turn real-time sync on again until you're on a plan that fits.
