Getting started

From installing the app to your first order at checkout.

Before you start

  • The app is installed in your store.
  • You know which payment methods your checkout offers. The easiest way is to open your store's checkout once.

The app's page

The app has a single page. Open it in your admin under "Apps". From top to bottom:

  1. Status: whether the customization is active, and how many payment customizations are active in the store.
  2. Base order: the payment methods at the top of checkout.
  3. Rules: exceptions by customer, cart, country, language and delivery method.
  4. Test run: enter a situation and see what checkout shows.
  5. Payment method names: which payment methods have a different name in rules than at checkout.
  6. Good to know: what Shopify decides at checkout.

Below each heading, one sentence says what the section is for, like on the settings pages in the Shopify admin.

As soon as something isn't saved, the bar at the top of the Shopify admin shows "Save" and "Discard", as on Shopify's own settings pages. Nothing is saved until you click "Save", even after "Done" in a rule's dialog. "Discard" asks first, then returns to the saved settings.

Your first order

  1. In a new installation, "Base order" already lists "PayPal". Add other payment methods that should move up, and arrange them with the handle on the left of the row.
  2. Leave "Customization active" under "Status" turned on.
  3. Click "Save".

On the first save, the app creates a payment customization in your store. You find it under Settings › Payments. From then on, the order applies at every checkout. The status shows "Active".

Check it

Open your store's checkout with an item in the cart. The payment methods you entered are at the top. If one isn't, check its name: see "Payment method names".

Without entries and without rules, the app changes nothing.
